Pete, Your Tour Guide

I grew up in Albany,  South West of Western Australia. Then based myself in Perth for many years and travelled by road around Australia extensively, clocking up literally hundreds of thousands of kilometres. I love the long drives experienced in the northern parts of Australia. Visiting Broome for the first time in 1975 for Shinju Matsuri (which means Festival of the Pearl in Japanese) and absolutely loving the feel of the place. Broome has certainly changed a lot since then. From a sleepy little town with a very relaxed atmosphere, to a thriving tourist destination…with a relaxed atmosphere. I moved to Broome in 2011 and won’t budge, just love the lifestyle.  

While working as a Tour Guide for Horizontal Falls Seaplane Adventures, driving a 4×4 bus up the Dampier Peninsula and dealing with up to 48 people a day, I realised that not everyone wants to spend time with other tourists. So, I started a personal guided tour service, making it your own tour.

 

The Kimberley has a true mystique that captures you. I love my job, showing my guests this magical part of the Kimberley. I have a genuine passion for the culture and history that has made Broome what it is today. Off Road 4X4 Outback Coastal Tour 6 Hours

We depart Broome and head up the Cape Lev­eque Rd. Turn west onto an un-sealed Manari road. This is where the adventure begins. The Crocodile Warning sign gives you the feeling that this is a remote part of Australia. You will also experience the meaning of a “Kimberley Massage”  

  •   Visit the award winning Willie Creek Pearl Farm. Explore the picturesque farm and surroundings, maybe grab a meal (not included) or a souvenir. We then drive along the creek for some fantastic photo opportunities.
  •   Now we head to Barred Creek.  Maybe see some wild horses that frequent the area.
  •  Drive through the paperbark trees, past huge termite mounds, around the end of the creek and drive onto the beach and end up on the most spectacular sand bar.
  •  Tide permitting, we drive through the mangroves and end up on the other side of the creek and another stunning beach.
  • Quandong Point. Walk on the pure white sandy  beach and see the crystal clear water of the Indian Ocean.
  •  Visit the world famous James Price Point. Drive on the beach and marvel at the beauty of the magnificent Red Cliffs.

 Part off-road adventure.

Drive out of Broome and head up the Cape Lev­eque Road to explore the Dampi­er Penin­su­la. These are just some of the fan­tas­tic places you may wish to discover.

  • Beagle Bay Aboriginal Community & the famous church with it’s pearl shell alter.
  • Lombardina Aboriginal Community, arts & craft centre. Breathtaking beach. Guided tour with friendly Bard local. Visit historic church built in 1934 from bush wood.
  • Cygnet Bay award winning Pearl Farm. Maybe go on their fantastic Pearl Discovery Tour, enjoy a meal (not included) in their licenced restaurant overlooking the Bay or take a swim in the infinity pool.
  • Visit the largest Aboriginal community on the Peninsula, Ardyaloon and meet some loverly local Bardi Jawi people.
  • One Arm Point lookout and see the second largest tides in the world. Maybe see turtles and sharks.
  • Trochus Shell Hatchery tour and get up close to the sea creatures that inhabit the surrounding waters.
  • Jologo Beach. The locals beach with it’s crystal clear water and snow white sand. 
  • The day can be customised to your own unique experience.

I cannot recommend Pete's Broome Time Tours Enough! From the initial enquiry and follow on to the actual day; the attention to detail, communication and service was flawless. Pete was able to collect us directly from the Ships gangway and get us off to a quick start to our day in Broome. Pete provides a customised tour to your own interests and is flexible enough to adjust as you go if possible. The WOW factors did not stop all day. Pete is an experienced tour operator combined with local knowledge. He is a genuine all round nice person. Again at the end of day, we were delivered directly to the ships gangway, avoiding any shuttles from town. (if on a ship DO still get a bus tender ticket to disembark as early as possible and you will get a quick start on your time available) All I can say is Broome and Pete did not disappoint. We have had 2 days with Pete doing both the full day Dampier Peninsula and half day beaches. We saw spectacular scenery, locations and wildlife that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. Finding brumbies drinking at a freshwater hole was also very special. Pete was more than happy to stop for any photo opportunity I saw.
